IndiaThe slates on this item are arranged vertically and are spaced close together. When laid on top of the horizontal slates (that has big gaps between slates) on my bed frame, it makes a very sturdy base for my high quality 13 inch mattress. So pleased with this product!
Know the bedframe and type of mattress you will be using before placing your order. Some frames have horizontal slats which might be fine for a box springs but if you are switching to a different type of mattress ( such as memory foam) you may need additional vertical support. The VERTICAL slats meet this need very well. Simply unroll the cloth covered Vertical slats onto the top of the previously mentioned Horizontal ones. A king size bed/mattress will require ordering the appropriate selection. It comes as 2 separate sections (packaged together in one shipping carton). There are appropriate velcro type tabs for joining the two together. The cloth covering is quite nice and does serve to protect the bottom of a mattress from dust. These slats made it possible to keep our sturdy wood bed by transitioning from a king size mattress with matching box springs (well past its' Use by Date) to a hybrid (gel foam/inner springs mattress) platform bed, thus keeping costs down in updating this master bedroom. And occupants are sleeping well.
IndiaI bought the full-size regular-duty version of this item for my loft bed. I was concerned that the length would be insufficient . It seems that they may be specifically designed to lay vertically atop existing horizontal slats. This was my situation and they worked out okay. It is a good idea to lay out the two panels in advance of trying to install them, and make sure you have the velcro strips properly aligned. The fabric covering was worth the extra $5, it keeps these slats silent against the other slats. The wood is stapled into sewn fabric pockets, and I have no doubt they'll stay put. The materials are perfect for their intended use. Since I can see the underside of the slats in my under-bed office area, I'm very happy about the fabric from an aesthetic perspective. And most importantly, my bed is better supported now and my back feels better for the lack of sag.
